Ivy Pascula

In her second serious competition, Ivy Pascua earned the title “Champion” of the Palm Springs/Desert Cities Chapter.  She scored an 84 to win the championship flight in the May 22, 2005 Chapter Championship on Desert Willow’s Firecliff course.

I was very surprised,” she said. “I didn’t have a lot of high expectations. I just wanted to do well for me. It was a pleasant surprise to also win.”

Ivy is a business analyst for WFS Financial in Irvine and hopes to own and operate her own business-planning consulting company one day.  While she lives in Mission Viejo, she’s in the Desert a lot and plans on retiring here.

She has been playing golf since 1994.  She learned the game while working on an MBA degree at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Her handicap is now 10.0. When asked how she brought her game to that level, she said:

Taking lessons, even semi-private. And I practice my short game—chipping, putting and shots from 100 yards in. That helped me take my index down in the last couple of years. Another thing is fitness—flexibility and muscle strength, which I attribute to muscle training, toning and cardiovascular exercise.  That has helped me hit the ball farther.”

Ivy has been a member of three Chapters—Orange County, San Diego and now PS/DC.  She volunteered with Orange County, working as the “executive-course tournament director.”

EWGA is such a great organization for women golfers to step into the game of golf,” she added.

After this interview, Ivy represented the California Section at the EWGA Annual Championship in Michigan in September 2005.
